Kabir Das ke Dohey - 41

मन हीं मनोरथ छांड़ी दे, तेरा किया न होई
  पानी में घिव निकसे, तो रूखा खाए न कोई
Man hi manorath chadi dey, tera kiya na hoi
Paani me ghiv nikshe, to rukha khay na koi

kabir ke dohey Literal meaning: Leave all your greed of heart, because you cannot fulfill all of them. If it was possible to get butter from water, then every body would have eaten bread with butter.

Explanation: It is to discourage the greed and wish full thinking, without putting the required efforts. The 'without efforts' is being com paired with water (which is available without efforts) and butter with 'desire'.

As it is not possible to get butter from water, similarly it is not possible to get your desire fulfilled without efforts. Otherwise every one would have enjoyed his life and fulfilled all his desired.
