Kabir Das ke Dohey - 11

गुरु गोविंद दोनों खड़े, काके लागूं पाँय | 
बलिहारी गुरु आपनो, गोविंद दियो मिलाय ||  
Guru govind done khade, kaka lagu pav
Balihari guru apane, Goving deyo milaye

Literal meaning:If teacher and God are both in front of me, whom feet should I touch first. Kabir says, it is only because of teacher’s teaching that I am able to see God. Therefore teacher is first.

Explanation: Here Kabir says that if there is a comparison between teacher and God, then I will place teacher at first place. He says if teacher does not explain me about God, then how I will reach / recognize God.

The importance of a teacher or guide is very high in our life. Teacher is a person, who explains you about the good and bad things. In this world all types of things is available. If there is no one to explain the difference, then we may select the wrong path and spoil our life. Otherwise we have to put our own efforts to find out, what is good and what is bad.

This may be like reinventing the wheel, i.e. wasting your efforts. The life is to short to waste the time is re-exploring. We have to move forward from the point our ancestors has reached. This can only be done, if there is some one who can guide us. That some one is teacher.
A teacher can be any one, who guides us in Spiritual, Moral, Academic, Sports or in any other field either formally or informally.
